About the 2016 Calendar

March 21: Creating Picture Books with award winning illustrator Robert J. Blake, at The Barn, Highlights Foundation Conference Center. Patti will be featured speaker on Monday of four day conference. Longtime Philomel editor of Rob, she will talk about the powerful place of text in an illustrator’s book

May 8-May 17: A Week with Patti Gauch, at The Barn. Highlights Foundation Conference Center. Following 2015’s successful week, writers will design their 2016 week, imagining a new novel, starting one, polishing a novel in progress with time to enjoy the camaraderie of a workshop of gifted writers. Open to writers who have attended other Chautauqua, Manhattanville College or Highlights workshops with Patti. Waitlisted presently. (See www.highlightsfoundation.org/workshops)

August 1 – August 3: Sentences, at Drew University in Madison, N.J. As part of the weeklong summer program for writers, she will speak on “The Search for Voice” and give a workshop on “Writing Intimate Third.”   (See depts.drew.edu/grad/sentences/home.html)

October 13 – October 16. A Master Class: The Search for Voice, , The Barn, Highlights Foundation Conference Center. Writing with Voice is arguably the most basic skill in capturing story. Perhaps the first. Writers too often don’t have the opportunity to grasp and capture this basic skill.
